TO: Company employees

FROM: Administration Department

Over the years, employees have been increasingly _____(1) with our in-house cafeteria facility. The selection of food is poor, and our cooking equipment is in disrepair. Also, there is no longer enough space for everyone to eat simultaneously. To cope with these growing problems, we have decided to undertake the renovation of the cafeteria.

Work will begin on the first day of the third quarter and will last approximately two months.

Unfortunately, the cafeteria must remain closed during that time. We have devised a _____(2) system to offer employees the chance to eat out at local restaurants without having to drive their own cars. Shuttle buses will run between our office and the Plaza Central in town from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

These plans have been designed with your convenience in mind. If anyone has a suggestion for the _____(3) of this or any other company project, please stop by the Administration Department and let us know. Thank you.

Melinda Carmichael 9:52
I have a client who would like to see your apartment this afternoon. Would that be possible?

Charles Fredericks 9:54
I'm only available at night today. If not, tomorrow evening might work. Or, you could show your client the space without me.

Melinda Carmichael 9:56
I know he's busy after 5. But let me see if he's free tomorrow. He seemed very interested in renting the apartment after he went over the detailed floor plan.

Charles Fredericks 9:59
Oh, really? That's good to hear. I hope he wants to take it as I need to move into my new place by the beginning of next month.

Melinda Carmichael 10:05
Just spoke with him on the phone. The visit is set for 10 A.M. tomorrow. He wants to take a look around the building, too.

Charles Fredericks 10:06
Sounds good. I'll leave my pass key at the front desk like the last time. Could you call me tomorrow night after 6 to let me know how it went?

Melinda Carmichael 10:07
Of course I will. If he is willing to sign a contract, I will send you a text message right away.

5. What is suggested about Mr. Fredericks?
6. At 9:56, what does Ms. Carmichael mean when she writes, "I know he's busy after 5"?

BOTWELL DEPARTMENT STORE

I'm very grateful to everyone for helping to make the first week of our duty-free store a success. Overall, I am pleased with your efforts and with how well the store ran. However, there are a few important things to take note of.

First, I received a number of complaints about our voucher program. Please recall that it is our policy to give vouchers to customers who make purchases totaling $500 or more. These vouchers allow them to take advantage of discounts on our partner establishments' Web sites. Please remember to give one to every eligible customer.

Second, if a member of our frequent shopper program has lost his or her card, we cannot offer the reduced price. However, shoppers may keep their receipts and get reimbursed for the difference once the card has been located or replaced.

Thank you for your attention to these matters, and keep up the good work.
