Milford Education to Launch the E-Lator

Milford Education, a leading publisher of foreign language dictionaries and learning materials, _____(1) a free online translation service. The service, known as the E-Lator, can translate text instantly into several different languages. The company spokesperson is promising that the website, www. milfordelator. com, will become available for public use on Monday next week.

Traditionally, such online services have proven unreliable, providing users with awkward translations. However, Milford Education executives are confident that the E-Lator can produce _____(2) translations in almost all circumstances. They firmly believe that the E-Lator site will become an extremely useful source for foreign language learners.

_____(3), the E-Lator will be able to translate short passages to and from English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese. The designers are currently working on adding several other languages to this list, including Russian, Chinese and Korean.

Volunteers Wanted!

CBG Steel is sponsoring the third annual Race for the Children, a ten kilometer run that raises money for Mercy Children's Hospital, located near the company's main building. The race will be held on Saturday, November 23, at 3:00 p.m. at the Headman Pavilion. The Planning Committee is looking for volunteers (who are NOT running in the race) to work at the drinking stations. The job is very easy, and only requires two to three hours of your time. You should arrive around 1:00 p.m. to set up the drinking station for the race, which involves organizing cups, water, juice, and snacks for the runners. Then, you will be responsible for handing out beverages and snacks to racers as they run by. After the race finishes, there will be an awards ceremony and a brief speech by CBG president, Walter Headman, followed by a small celebratory dinner for everyone. All volunteers will receive a free meal pass. For anyone interested in volunteering, there will be a brief meeting on Thursday, November 15, at 12:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in Room #203. Lunch will be provided.

A Very Fruity Idea

Our cities are filled with trees, and the vast majority of those trees produce edible fruits. -[1]-. But with no one to collect and process them, most simply fall to the ground and rot, wasting a potentially excellent source of nutrition.

One new organization wants to change that. -[2]-. Fresh From The Tree is a non-profit group that aims to collect as much fruit as possible from the city's trees, and then make it into delicious snacks that can be sold at low prices to local residents.

"We have been doing a survey of the locations of all the fruit trees in town," says co-founder Michaela Anderson. "Once we have identified a promising tree, we contact the homeowners and ask if we can pick the fruit for them. -[3]-. They usually don’t have time to manage it themselves."

After the volunteers collect the fruit, they give half of it to the owners of the residence, and keep the other half to turn into fruit pies, jams, sorbets, and other tasty but healthy desserts. The group only has a handful of volunteers at the moment but are hoping to recruit more in the coming months. -[4]-. They are also negotiating with the city to collect fruit from trees on government property.
