The Smallvilee Department of Transportation (SDT) announced that it will begin construction on a new bus lane downtown. The construction is scheduled to begin at the end of July, a city official said. The new bus lane will provide direct service to the main financial district, and will replace bus lines 3 and 4. Studies have been conducted on traffic patterns and it is expected that the new service will reduce commuting time by 25 percent. Crane Construction has been contracted to build the new lane. Unfortunately, Main St. will be closed from July 22nd to August 30th, while the construction is taking place. The SDT has asked all commuters who drive to work to take 122 Avenue instead of Main Street.

I visited South Africa on vacation for 7 days from June 4 to June 11. I stayed at three different hotels during my trip and went to the Sunburst Hotel on June 9 and stayed there for my last 3 days in South Africa. I am confident in saying that the Sunburst is simply the best hotel in the area. Its parking lot is unbelievably huge, and there are staff members everywhere to assist visitors with the utmost level of service and attentiveness. I also loved swimming at the beach, which was just a 3-minute walk away from the hotel. Great food, great location, great staff, and great price. What more can you ask for?

I visited the Sunburst Hotel on July 20 and stayed there for 5 nights. I appreciated the free ticket to a museum I received from the hotel very much, but I must express how I really felt about the hotel itself. The Sunburst Hotel used to be the best hotel in the region, but I personally think it has lost its old glory. The building is undeniably old, all the doors squeak every time I open them, and the wireless Internet is just way too slow. Worst of all, the street the hotel is located on has become very developed, so there are bright lights shining through the windows and many people making loud noises at night. I do not recommend the Sunburst Hotel if you are looking to have a quiet, relaxing vacation.

3rd Homemade Cuisine Contest

Food Empire Magazine is inviting amateur cooks to participate in our 3rd annual Homemade Cuisine Contest. We are looking for dishes in the following four categories:

The first round of selections will be based on photographs and recipes submitted by the participants. Submit your entries on our Web site by July 5. On July 20, 15 candidates in each category will be announced. They will be invited to Food Empire’s convention center to show off their cooking skills and cuisines in front of the judges on July 30. Two winners in each category will be announced on August 10. All winners will be featured in our September issue with pictures of their kitchens and dishes taken by our professional photographers. First-place winners will be given $2,500 as a prize, and second-place winners will receive a free subscription to our magazine for a whole year.
