Investigators have recently found that some insurance companies are using unethical techniques to charge life insurance policy owners more money. The method: blood pressure tests. As part of routine life insurance policy applications, applicants must take a blood pressure test. But some companies administer the test with an armband that is too tight for the client. This tight armband raises the likelihood of a high blood pressure reading, ultimately resulting in a higher monthly premium payment for the client. On behalf of our employees, most of whom take the Queenstown bus to the Speedo plant every day, we are concerned that our employees are arriving late for work.

Our staff uniforms need to be kept at work, but by the time staff put on their uniforms they arrive at their shift stations 10 to 15 minutes later than the start of their shift.

We wonder if it would be possible to have the morning bus depart 15 minutes earlier. We are looking forward to hearing from you on this matter.

Lester Beebe Hits Stage in South Bend

A musical version of Michelle Gable's novel The Triumph of Lester Beebe is set to premiere next month on May 22. -[1]-. Set in South Bend, the show is the story of a teenage boy who is the son of an automobile factory worker in the 1960s. The book became a favorite of young adult readers when it was first printed in 1968. -[2]-.

Producers Todd Carlisle and Emma Wright were not even born when the book was first released but say they identified with Lester Beebe's adolescent struggles when first reading the story. "Lester Beebe isn't just a teenager from South Bend," says Carlisle, "he could be a young person from anywhere." In addition to being the show's producers, Carlisle and Wright manage the Eden Playhouse in South Bend. -[3]-. According to Wright, the area is not well-known for musical productions, but she hopes The Triumph of Lester Beebe will change that. "Todd and I are also counting on local interest to help in building an audience for the show," she said.

Playing the role of Beebe is actor Henry Thomas. Veteran performer Neil Chandler plays his father, while the roles of Beebe's sisters, Mandy and Corinne, will be realized by Stephanie O'Connor and Audrey Blanco. Following the run in South Bend, Carlisle and Wright will take the show to New York in August for its Broadway debut. -[4]-. Getting a good night's sleep may have surprising benefits, including adding up to six years to your life. This and other results of the National sleep Center decade-long study of the effects of sleep deprivation on adults were announced yesterday at a press conference by Margaret Norwood, the research scientist who headed the study. Dr. Norwood stressed that "getting adequate sleep is not a luxury, it is critical to proper brain functioning. People who sleep well show greatly enhanced moods, improved memories, and better job performances and are significantly less likely to be involved in accidents."

Dr. Hugh Weatley, the director at the center, agree, stating that, while individuals do vary in their need for sleep, "most adults require one hour of sleep for every two hours of wakefulness. " he suggested that individuals determine their own requirements by sleeping for the amount of time they think they need for a week.
