Symposium to Stress Importance of Contemporary Art.
April 13-16

The Braker University art department is pleased to announce its annual Art Symposium schedule. This year, guest lecturers will focus on the significance of contemporary art in urban design. The four-day symposium will feature both artists and urban developers from around North America. The focal point of the event is the impact of art within our community, the trend of developers to include contemporary art in their community design along with facts and figures regarding community pride among residents with and without featured artwork. Specifics of each lecture or event can be obtained by looking at the Braker University Web site, www.Braker.edu/art/symposium. All lectures and presentations will be held by the O.R. Morrisey Center at the North entrance of the University from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. each day. A meet and greet with speakers and presenters will be held on Saturday April 16 at 8:00 p.m. Admission to all events is free, but donations are requested. All proceeds will benefit the Braker University art department. Seating is limited, so guests are advised to reserve tickets by contacting the O.R Morrisey Center box office by calling 768-9057 on weekdays between the hours of 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Community Central Library

Launches "Read & Connect".

This month Community Central Library launches "Read & Connect" to encourage reading and digital skills across all ages.

The program includes weekly book clubs, digital literacy workshops, and family story hours. Sessions will be held on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Saturday mornings are reserved for preschool and elementary children, while weekday evenings will offer teen and adult groups.

Participation is free. To volunteer, donate books, or register for events, call (555) 012-3456 or email volunteer@cclibrary.org. We welcome tutors, storytellers, and tech helpers.

My name is Elena Ramirez and I teach first grade at Maple Grove Elementary. I was excited to read about the new "Read & Connect" initiative in the community newsletter.

I would like to lead the Saturday children's sessions and bring a set of 30 picture books from my classroom. I can also recruit two parent volunteers from our school and run the sessions for the next three months.

Murray (July 10) – The construction of the Rosemount Apartment Complex is now complete, and residents are flooding in. This new development is animating the area and boosting the sales of nearby businesses.

Businesses in the Lamere Building, which is located in front of the apartment complex, are benefiting greatly. Among them is Murphy Pizza on the second floor. The owner of the pizzeria, Hillary Dembowski, reports that she has “seen a 200% increase in revenue.”

Rosa Chisholm is the owner of Dream Bakers, a new bakery that opened its doors in the Lamere Building just yesterday. Ms. Chisholm is expecting a high return on her new business. “Everything seems to be working out positively.”

Attention, All Employees at Freshness Explosion

Thanks to the construction of the Rosemount Apartment Complex, we are seeing a sharp increase in the number of customers. To satisfy all customers and to deal with repeated requests from customers, we will spend the next week improving our facilities.

• A bathroom will be constructed inside the shop, thereby removing the need to share the bathroom with Murphy Pizza and Dream Bakers.

• The windows will be changed to thicker ones in order to improve energy efficiency.

• The parking lot will be repaved.

• The store will be widened and more cash registers installed, so customers will not have to wait in long lines anymore.

I have been a customer of Freshness Explosion for about three years. Members of my fitness center especially love the onsite café’s fresh tomato juice and carrot cake made out of ingredients that I receive from Freshness Explosion every day. I am writing this note in order to express my gratitude to one of your employees, Ms. Michelle Murdock. She delivers fruits and vegetables to the café at 7 o’clock in the morning every day. She has never been tardy, which shows her professionalism and ensures that the café operates without any problems. She truly deserves a reward for her hard work.
