Volunteers Needed for Riverside Park Renovation!

The City Parks Department is organizing a community effort to renovate Riverside Park this summer. We are looking for volunteer gardeners to help with planting native shrubs, pulling weeds, and repairing walking paths. Work will take place on Saturday mornings from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Work will begin on June 7 and continue throughout the summer on scheduled weekends. Young volunteers aged 14 and older are welcome to participate with an accompanying adult. Please bring gloves, a water bottle, and sturdy shoes; basic gardening tools will be provided. Volunteers will receive a certificate of community service and complimentary refreshments.
To sign up, visit the Park Office, register online at www.cityparks.org/volunteer, or contact us by phone at 555-8420 or email parks@city.gov. The volunteer sign-up deadline is May 31.

The GreenLeaf Neighborhood Association invites community members to join a Community Garden Volunteer Day on Saturday, November 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Oakwood Community Garden (123 Maple Ave.). Activities will include planting native perennials, spreading mulch, and constructing new raised beds led by horticulturist Maria Chen.

Registration is required as space is limited to 25 volunteers. Send your name, phone number, and t-shirt size to volunteers@greenleaf.org by November 10 to reserve a spot. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Tools will be provided, but please bring a water bottle and work gloves if possible.

In the event of heavy rain the program will be rescheduled; registrants will be notified by email at least 24 hours beforehand. If you cannot attend after registering, please notify us as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone on the waiting list.

Here is our free course online information brochure:
Foothills Community College is now pleased to offer free college courses to all of its full-time staff and faculty. Funding for these courses has been provided by the State of Oregon and is available to all full-time staff and faculty who have been working at the college for at least three months. To register for classes:

1. Obtain a class request from the department secretary.
2. Make sure your classes do not interfere with your normal work schedule.
3. Present your selections to your supervisor and obtain his or her signature.
4. Register for your classes online through the college website.
5. When you are asked for payment method, enter your departmental code. Your confirmation for registration will be sent to your email account within one working day.
