Frisbie, NY 02165

Dear Mr. Galoob,

Thank you for sending me a copy of your latest ceramics catalog. You have been sending us your catalog here at the museum for several years now, and I always look forward to reading it. I was amazed yet again at the variety and creativity that you have displayed in your work. Your vases and bowls are quite exquisite! They look so realistic. They really do resemble the plants and animals that they are modeled after. I would like to order 50 more of the ladybug bowls. They are perfect for holding sugar cubes, but unfortunately we have had a lot of breakages this year. However, it was the scorpion cups that really grabbed my attention. According to the catalog, they are available in small, medium, and a limited number of extra-large sizes. I am interested in purchasing approximately 25 of the extra-large scorpion cups. If they are popular, I may consider ordering more, if the museum has the budget. Please send me information on your available stock. I would appreciate receiving the information by fax. I look forward to hearing from you, and hope that we will be able to continue doing business for a long time to come.

Sincerely,

Linda Trump,

Volunteers Wanted!

CBG Steel is sponsoring the third annual Race for the Children, a ten kilometer run that raises money for Mercy Children's Hospital, located near the company's main building. The race will be held on Saturday, November 23, at 3:00 p.m. at the Headman Pavilion. Then, you will be responsible for handing out beverages and snacks to racers as they run by. After the race finishes, there will be an awards ceremony and a brief speech by CBG president, Walter Headman, followed by a small celebratory dinner for everyone. All volunteers will receive a free meal pass. For anyone interested in volunteering, there will be a brief meeting on Thursday, November 15, at 12:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in Room #203. Lunch will be provided.

A Very Fruity Idea

Our cities are filled with trees, and the vast majority of those trees produce edible fruits. -[1]-. But with no one to collect and process them, most simply fall to the ground and rot, wasting a potentially excellent source of nutrition.

One new organization wants to change that. -[2]-. Fresh From The Tree is a non-profit group that aims to collect as much fruit as possible from the city's trees, and then make it into delicious snacks that can be sold at low prices to local residents.

"We have been doing a survey of the locations of all the fruit trees in town," says co-founder Michaela Anderson. "Once we have identified a promising tree, we contact the homeowners and ask if we can pick the fruit for them. -[3]-. They usually don’t have time to manage it themselves."

After the volunteers collect the fruit, they give half of it to the owners of the residence, and keep the other half to turn into fruit pies, jams, sorbets, and other tasty but healthy desserts. The group only has a handful of volunteers at the moment but are hoping to recruit more in the coming months. -[4]-. They are also negotiating with the city to collect fruit from trees on government property.

32. What is the article mainly about?
33. What does Fresh From The Tree do with the fruit it collects?
34. According to the article, what do homeowners receive from Fresh From The Tree?
35. In which of the positions marked [1], [2], [3], and [4] does the following sentence best belong? "Most of the residents accept the offer with pleasure."

From: Jean Walters
Date: September 3
Subject: Annual meeting and banquet

Hello everyone,

Our annual staff meeting and banquet will be taking place, as usual, at the end of October, and we are pleased to announce that a venue has been finalized for the event. -[1]-. We will be convening at the Palatial Hotel at 3316 Geary Boulevard, San Francisco, at 9 A.M. on October 27. The meeting is expected to run until around 6 P.M., with a short, catered lunch at noon. After we conclude the meeting, there will be a quick 30-minute break before dinner starts at 6:30 PM. This will give everyone some time to unwind before the meal is served. Those who have invited guests may show them to their seats at this time. -[2]-.

Several menu options will be offered, and you're kindly asked to notify me of your selections by the end of next week. For the main course, there is a choice between grilled salmon and fresh vegetables or roasted lamb and seasoned potatoes. -[3]-. Coffee, tea, and other beverages will also be provided.

If you have any dietary limitations that must be accommodated, such as food allergies, please let me know as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made with the hotel. -[4]-.

I look forward to seeing you all on October 27.

To Whom It May Concern,

I would like to follow up on my registration for the Bank Employee Development training course. I submitted my payment one week ago and received an e-mail confirming my enrollment. However, I still haven't received the course syllabus. Please send it to me as soon as possible so that I can begin preparing for the class.

Also, a colleague of mine is interested in taking the same course. I realize that it may be too late to register since the deadline has passed, but I am wondering whether an exception can be made if the class isn't already full. Thanks.
