The City Park Community Garden has launched a new intergenerational program that brings together seniors and children to grow vegetables and flowers together.
The program provides each participant with a raised bed, a set of basic tools, seed packets, and compost for the season. At harvest time, gardeners may take home a share of the produce they helped grow.

Regular gardening sessions meet twice a week: Wednesday mornings and Saturday afternoons. Participants are asked to sign up for specific time slots so that each planting area has consistent care. Before working in the garden, all new members must complete a one-hour orientation covering safety, tool use, and planting schedules.

Families are also invited to attend monthly workshops on topics such as composting and pest management, and local volunteers help as mentors during sessions. The garden organizers say the project aims to build skills, friendships, and a stronger neighborhood connection.

Oakview Public Library provides the following services:

MEETING ROOM RENTAL: The Community Room is available for public events at $75 per hour. Please reserve at least 10 days in advance. A refundable $100 deposit is required for after-hours events.

MULTIMEDIA LAB: Computers and high-speed scanners free for members. A 3D printer is available for a nominal fee.

STUDY ROOMS: Members may reserve study rooms free for up to 2 hours. Additional hours are $10 per hour. There is a maximum 4 guests per room.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS: Storytime meets Tuesdays at 10:30 A.M. Craft kits are available for pickup.

EQUIPMENT LOANS: Projectors, microphones for a $25 deposit. Laptop chargers and adapters can be borrowed as well.

Oakview Library Announces Summer Internship Program

Oakview Public Library launched a summer internship program this week. The new interns are students from nearby colleges and will assist with programming, outreach, and digital services. Officials say the partnership with local schools helped recruit candidates and will allow the library to expand evening hours and host a weekday evening lecture series.
