HELEN COULTER [July 15, 9:54 A.M.] I hope you are all having a good break. I just heard back from the producer of Timelight this morning, and they would like to extend Kitchen Belle's catering contract for another two years. The studio has renewed the TV series. Shall we keep the same schedule as last year, or would you like to switch times?
ELAINE PAINTER [July 15, 10:00 A.M.] That's great news! It will guarantee the business a steady income. I know Henry Lincoln usually does breakfast, but as long as he doesn't have a problem with it, can I take the morning shift instead of lunch this time?
GRAHAM FULTON [July 15, 10:04 A.M.] It's fine by him. He's with me now and just told me so, Elaine. He'd actually prefer midday. As for me, I want to stick with the breakfast shift. Will there be any extra evening shoots this year?
HELEN COULTER [July 15, 10:05 A.M.] So Elaine and Graham can do the 7:30-11:00 shift, and Henry and I will do 11:30-3:30. There will be some evening shifts for extra pay, but none that will end past midnight. In addition, the show will also be filmed outside the studio this season, so we'll have to make adjustments. Anyway, we can discuss that issue when we return from vacation next week.
ELAINE PAINTER [July 15, 10:07 A.M.] Will the number of cast and crew be the same?
GRAHAM FULTON [July 15, 10:07 A.M.] It sounds like more work than last year.
HELEN COULTER [July 15, 10:08 A.M.] Yes, Elaine. There will be a total of 88 to feed rather than 67. And Graham, I think it will be more work. But they are paying us more, so I think we can afford to hire a couple of food preparation assistants.

11. At 10:04 A.M., what does Mr. Fulton most likely mean when he writes, "It's fine by him"?
12. When will Mr. Lincoln start his regular shifts next season?
13. What is implied about Timelight?
14. What will happen next week at Kitchen Belle?

Fall festival Ends in Disaster.

Winnitoba: Applause turned to upset last Friday when the Winnitoba Symphony held their annual Fall Festival Performance at the Winnitoba Opera House. The 3-day long Fall Festival came to an end with a featured concert, which was attended by just over 300 people. The concert ended with a montage of traditional mid-western music for which the symphony was accompanied by the Winnitoba Men's Choir. Although the choir is currently touring Canada to promote their new CD, they were glad to work with the symphony. The audience did not seem to appreciate the performance, which featured nationally recognized soloist, Donald Pericelli along with violinist, Mark Whitten. Accounts claim that audience members were yelling at the musicians and leaving the Opera House after requesting a refund. To add to the general unhappiness of the audience, an unexpected staging malfunction made the evening even worse. One attendee reported seeing the stage curtain hanging quite loosely throughout the performance. As the symphony finished their traditional music piece, someone on the side of the stage, tripped over the dangling material bringing the entire curtain onto the stage. Several players had their instruments knocked out of their hands and the concert had to end abruptly. Donald Pericelli was injured when a hook holding the curtain up hit him in the head. He is currently recovering at Winnitoba Memorial Hospital.

Winnitoba Times
Local Newsdesk,
Winnitoba

Dear Sir,

I am a cellist with the Winnitoba symphony. I was performing with the orchestra at the end of last week's Fall Festival. As a participant in the event, I would like to complain that your coverage of the event was quite unfair. To begin with, our audience seemed to thoroughly enjoy the complete performance, including the traditional music montage at the end of the show. At no time do I recall any audience members yelling towards the stage. I do not know about people requesting refunds, but if there were, I'm sure our performance was not the reason. As for the incident concerning the stage curtain, it did fall but not until the very end of the set and it did not affect the performance in any way. The curtain simply fell to the side of the stage. Unfortunately, the Winnitoba Times has printed quite negative articles about the Winnitoba Symphony in the past. I would like to request that this not become a habit. Please use the correct facts and print a retraction in next week's addition.
Thank you,

Karen Winter
