Sports Wire

Rome, Italy
A recent report from the European Car Racing Association shows that many professional race car drivers suffer from chronic neck pain due to frequent quick acceleration and sudden braking during competitions. Drivers frequently accelerate their cars from 30km/h to 200 km/h in just seconds. The occupation also increases risk of spinal stress.

James Waters, professional driver since 1989 comments that he has experienced chronic neck pain for many years. The only remedy seems to be frequent massages and exercises designed to strengthen the neck muscles. Manufacturers of car restraint systems are also trying to design better safety belts to keep the neck more stable during acceleration and braking, a change we may not see in this sport for several years.

14. What can help lessen the stress related to car racing?
15. When may new designs in safety belts appear?

From: Evan Patel <evan.patel@brightpathcenter.org>
Subject: Venue options for July 12 workshop
Date: May 22

Samantha,

Expected attendance: about 100.
You asked me to check venues available on July 12. Below is a comparison table.

Venue Capacity AV equipment Cost Availability Pros
Harborview Conference Hall 120 Yes $900 July 12 Central location, close to hotels
Riverview Meeting Room 80 Yes $650 July 12 Great natural light
GreenTech Studios 60 No $450 July 15 Lower cost
Library Auditorium 200 Yes $1200 July 12 Free parking

We need a venue that has AV equipment and is available on July 12. Harborview Conference Hall would be my top pick: it has AV, seats 120, is available on July 12, and is centrally located.

Thanks,
Evan
