Gardenville to Resurrect Jefferson Cinema

Gardenville City Council members voted on Thursday to proceed with the restructuring and renovation of the old Jefferson Cinema on Jorgensen Street. The structure, built in the late 1920s, has sat vacant since it shut down in the 1980s. The opening of two multiplex theater complexes in Gardenville drove the one-screen cinema out of business.

Upon recommendation of the Gardenville Arts Council (GAC) and the Gardenville History Society, the city will invest a sum of $2.3 million in the building. The updated facility will be used as a venue for live theatrical performances and will be renamed The Jefferson Playhouse. Local theater group Flora-Lane Community Players will use the building for all its rehearsals and shows. Likewise, the venue will also be a space for visiting acts, performers, and theatrical groups. GAC President Marvin Lee said in a telephone interview "we are thrilled that the council approved the project unanimously. —[1]—. First, it will help preserve our local heritage and history, and it will also provide our community’s theater club with a more appropriate home". —[2]—. Flora-Lane Community Players currently practices and holds performances at the Carter Neighborhood Youth Center’s auditorium. —[3]—. However, with a seating capacity of only 100 audience members, the group’s growingly popular shows require a larger venue. —[4]—.

But recent years have been more difficult, with disappointing placements in the league and a dwindling fan base that has been attracted to other more successful sports teams in the region.

Moving will allow for cheaper ticket prices, more parking spaces, and easier access from other areas. -[3]-. As for the team, it will get to train using state-of-the-art facilities. Work will begin on the currently unnamed new stadium this month and is expected to be finished within two years.

To: Customer Service
From: Doris Hogue
Subject: Order#10009283
Date: October 10

To Whom It May Concern,

I tried calling the Toptracks 101 customer service directly but could not reach any of the workers. I purchased some albums on your Web site not long ago. —[1]—. After I paid for the selected items, I realized that I had accidently ordered the Rock Station’s Deluxe album, which I did not mean to purchase as I had already done so last month. For some reason, it still remained in my shopping cart and got checked out along with my new list of items, so I accidently paid for it. —[2]—.

On the Web site, the notice says that I should contact customer service and that a refund will be available within 24 hours of purchase. —[3]—. If by any chance, the refund of a single item is not available, could you just cancel my whole order? The Rock Station’s Deluxe album is not cheap and I certainly don’t need two of them. —[4]—. Please get back to me with the available options.

Thank you.

Going International: A Marketing Strategies Conference.

An information program sponsored by the National Student Marketers Association

Are you ready to go global?

Recent research has shown that over half of medium-sized firms are looking to expand their business into the overseas market within the next five years. Is your business one of the majority? You may think you have all the tools necessary to go global, or that your product can sell itself-no matter what part of the world it's in. It has been proven, time and time again that our successful strategies for domestic marketing are, all too often, a tremendous failure when used abroad. That's the reason so many companies have failed, and that is the reason you should know better than to follow in their footsteps. The National Student Marketers Association is sponsoring a must-see event for any business owner planning to expand their product lines internationally.

The two-day conference will enlighten you and your employees on the following topics:

-Spotting your weaknesses ... before your customers do!

-Understanding culture - and using it to your advantage.

-Legal and taxation issues. Don't let your company suffer!

-Dealing with international customers. How to execute appropriate service plans.

-Developing & implementing a global marketing strategy.

If you are a small or mid-sized firm owner or CEO, you must attend this conference! Cost is $250 per person. Discounts are available for groups of 3 or more. Total includes six meals and all materials. Visit www.NSMA org to register. Space is limited, so sign up today!

42. Who is the target audience for this announcement?
43. According to the information, what can lead to failure?
44. What topic will NOT be discussed during the conference?
45. Why is it important that people register soon?
