A recent report from the European Car Racing Association shows that many professional race car drivers suffer from chronic neck pain due to frequent quick acceleration and sudden braking during competitions. Drivers frequently accelerate their cars from 30km/h to 200 km/h in just seconds. The occupation also increases risk of spinal stress.

James Waters, professional driver since 1989 comments that he has experienced chronic neck pain for many years. The only remedy seems to be frequent massages and exercises designed to strengthen the neck muscles. Manufacturers of car restraint systems are also trying to design better safety belts to keep the neck more stable during acceleration and braking, a change we may not see in this sport for several years.

August 9 – The Moon Circus is making its first appearance in New York to present Zora, a show based on an astounding story of the nature. This latest extravaganza is finally ready for the stage after 2 years of production.

At a press conference held in Philadelphia last week, Mr. Gregory Karminski, the director of Zora, described in detail how the show came to be. —[1]—. The show is inspired by Julia Simms’ famous work of fiction, Jungle Tales, taking on the majestic and wild characteristics of the jungle and its inhabitants.

At first, Bell Laundro was not as successful as it currently is. —[2]—. However, Ms. Bell was not willing to give up on her business.

Local Chorus Tryouts

The Winfield Community Chorus will hold open tryouts for new members on January 17 from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. at Centennial Hall, located at 660 Plum Street in downtown Winfield. We have openings for women and men and for all types of voices including bass, tenor, alto, and soprano. -[1]-.

Those who audition must be at least 18 years of age, live in Winfield, and be capable of reading music or willing to learn. Previous choral experience is certainly appreciated but not necessary. -[2]-. We will judge your ability to sing the correct notes to the tempo and melody of the audition songs.

Also, we prefer performers that present themselves with professionalism and who can show the proper facial expressions to communicate the emotions they perform. For concerts, you will also have to learn lyrics in various languages, including Italian, German, and French.

Everyone auditioning will receive notification on January 19 about whether or not they have been accepted. New members must keep in mind that the chorus is a community organization made up of volunteers and that they will receive no payment. -[3]-.

As a long-time member of the Small Business Association, I'm sure you're as upset as the rest of us about the recent hydro rate increase of 29 percent which took effect in October. The difference in our monthly electricity bills is considerable, and for small businesses such as ours that are struggling to make ends meet, I'm sure I don't need to tell you what the increase could mean in the long term.
I wanted to let you know that, as President of the Small Business Association of Windover, I have taken the initiative to contact the State Corporation Commission on behalf of the Association to voice the concerns of small business owners in the area and to register our opposition to this rate increase.
In doing so, I was informed that final approval for this increase has not yet been given to Vermont Hydro by the Commission. Commissioners will decide in the near future whether to approve all, some, or none of the requested 29 percent increase. If the full 29 percent increase is not approved, customers will receive a refund for any overcharges (so save your monthly statements).
This pending decision gives us an opportunity to prevent the increase. That is why I am writing to all of the members of the Association to ask for your support. As customers of Vermont Hydro, we can all contact the Commission and register our opposition to this rate increase. Now, it is your turn to be proactive. Call to register your opposition and pass the word along to businesses in other areas served by Vermont Hydro; even your friends and family could call - every little bit helps.
You can call the State Corporation Commission at (800)553-7845 between 8:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You will be directed to leave your name, address, telephone number and a statement of opposition. The call takes only 2 to 3 minutes.
